Post-concussion Syndrome or
Post-trauma Syndrome
The risk of post-concussion syndrome doesn't appear to be associated with the severity of an initial brain injury. And, you don't have to lose consciousness to get a concussion or post-concussion syndrome, which again, is unrelated to the severity of the injury. Symptoms of post-concussion syndrome can occur within 7 days, and for some, it may resolve within three months. However, for others they can linger for years, adversely affecting quality of life or prevent returning to work or sport. The main treatment goal after a concussion is effective symptom management.
Stroke
A stroke can be caused by a blood vessel in the brain getting blocked or bursting, causing neurons in the brain to suffer a loss of blood and oxygen supply resulting in a brain injury. As a result, neurons may get damaged due to starvation and may even die. The various symptoms that is seen depends on the region of the brain where the injury occurred. Damaged braincells can regenerate through a process of neurogenesis.
Please note: prior to undertaking treatment post concussion and stroke, consult with your doctor to ensure that you have recovered sufficiently from the acute phase of your injury.
Post-Concussion or Trauma Symptoms
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
- headaches and migraines
– affecting 90% of people who suffered concussion - fatigue, moderate to severe
– affecting 90% of people who suffered concussion - dizziness, vertigo and ringing in the ears
- abnormal eye movements
- blurry vision and light sensitivity
- noise sensitivity
COGNITIVE SYMPTOMS
- concentration difficulties
- attention and memory loss
- delayed thinking and slower information processing
- delayed visual processing
EMOTIONAL MOOD SYMPTOMS
- sleep disturbance with insomnia or hypersomnia
– up to 75% of people who suffered concussion - irritability and a much shorter ‘fuse’ than before
- anxiety, often accompanied by depression

The Road to Functional Recovery
The Tomatis® Method is a unique listening programme, used as a pedagogical tool to improve the way the brain receives and interprets information. Our brains receive around 80% of all sensory stimulation through our ears, and with a head trauma, things get shaken up between and in the ears. As a result, the brain might lack cortical stimulation leading to fatigue & poor concentration. With a stroke, muscle weakness is a common symptom. The Tomatis® Method stimulates the vestibular system which is responsible for muscle movements (motor skills) as well as balance and coordination.
Abnormal eye movements often accompany post-concussion syndrome. Using our Visagraph™, we can track and monitor eye movements, indicating how orderly the brain deals with information, how it is fed into short-term memory and the ability to retrieve information.
“There exists a functional relationship between ocular movements and central processes” – Herman F. Brandt in The Psychology of Seeing.
So, whilst the physical brain injury takes time to heal, we have demonstrated with the Tomatis ® Method an improvement in some of the common post-trauma symptoms. By reducing their limiting impact, it improves quality of life for you as well as those around you.
***Please note that the Tomatis® Method is an educational approach that cannot be considered as a medical treatment. In cases of serious difficulties, we suggest you use the Tomatis® Method as complementary support to a therapeutic or medical treatment and continue to follow the advice of your medical practitioner.

How We Can Help
KingsFisher unique assessment methods reveal the underlying, often undetected difficulties that hamper and delay development and progress:
- Our Cognitive Skills Assessment reveals the underpinning cognitive skills related to poor academic performance
- With our Tomatis® Listening Profile we can determine how efficient the relationship between the ears and brain is for information processing
- Using our Visagraph™, we can track and monitor eye movements indicating how orderly the brain deals with information, how it is fed into short-term memory and the ability to retrieve information. “There exists a functional relationship between ocular movements and central processes” as reported by Herman F. Brandt in The Psychology of Seeing
- Our Mineral Therapy Assessment reveals which minerals are lacking for optimal performance
Based on our findings, our intervention programmes and protocols are tailor-made for each individual
